Twisty Thriller You Wonāt Want to Put Down!
The Housemaid is a fast-paced psychological thriller that kept me hooked from start to finish. Millie, the protagonist, is a complex character with a troubled past, and her journey into the Winchester family’s mansion is filled with suspense and unexpected twists.McFadden’s writing is sharp and engaging, making it a quick read thatās hard to put down. While some plot points may seem predictable to seasoned thriller readers, the execution and pacing make for an enjoyable experience. If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers with strong characters and suspenseful twists, The Housemaid is a must-read.

Best book to date!!
I donāt ever leave amazon reviews, but this book!!! Itās super easy to read, the writing is clear and easy to follow. The storyline is super addictive and keeps you guessing right until the end. Itās without a doubt one of the most gripping books youāll ever read, especially if you like good twists and using your imagination. Iām now hooked on her books, I managed to read this book in just three hours, nothing captures attention for this long usually.

Below expectations
I heard a lot about this book and so my expectations were high. However, for me personally, I felt the plot was unbelievable and the writing was average. Yes it contains a lot of twists and itās easy reading. However, it reminded me a lot about how I felt when I read Gone Girl for those of you who know what I mean.

I absolutely loved this book & have already ordered the sequel. The pace, the characters, the twists – it really is a fantastic read which I struggled to put down.

Plot seems implausible but it kept me hooked
I can’t remember what was the trigger to buy this book but it seems to review well (and has sold huge numbers). I think I may have confused it with The Maid but I liked the sound of this book so decided to give it a go. By the look of the cover it’s going to be great.I’d not heard of the author but was interested in her combination of medical and psychological thriller writing as careers. I was also impressed with her long list of novels. This book has 328 pages split into 61 chapters and was first published in 2022.From the start it is clear that something awful has happened. We are then taken back a few months to find out what. There are plenty of secrets and some very weird events. The readers senses are heightened and there is a lot of suggestion. The narrative starts looking from Millie’s perspective – she is very cautious of her environment although is not an innocent party which adds plenty of layers. The concept of the plot is tight with a small cast of characters making it an unchallenging book to read but there are enough twists to keep the attention all the way through.Gradually the story moves along, all the time keeping enough tension to make you think it is all going to go wrong at any moment. The prologue has introduced the idea of a body in the attic but there is a lot to be discovered before the book gets to that.Complexity is added and, whilst it all seems implausible, I did get hooked in and I loved the ending. It seemed unlikely that this book is going to be developed into a series but that is what has happened and I’m definitely going to get the next one.

5 stars
I picked up this one for a light read with my morning coffee, only to end up reading the whole book in one day. This story absolutely captivated me. Frieda writes in such a way that makes reading effortless, gripping you from one chapter to the next.

Freida McFadden is a fantastic author!
To say this is a fantastic author would be an underestimation. I have read loads and loads so when you pick one from a certain genre you can usually guess how it’s going to go early on, you notice the clues and flags,Not with this author there obviously are clues and flags but then she spins rounds and everything you thought you knew put it to one side, she goes up a gear, then just when people start admitting things and the story is levelling out near the last few chapters, she does it again and it reveals more!I would advise read the Housemaid series in order. Then pick up any title of hers, you will not be bored. My recent 2 suggestions would be the Co Worker and Never Lie, I read Never Lie in one night – well I read the first 2 chapters in the early hours then finished it that night time it was that good.Freida’s father is a Psychiatrist and she herself is a Specialist Physician, she knows the inner workings of the mind and to make it work in the books. She knows the way you think, why you’d think it and turns it right round. One very clever lady, it’s been a long while since there has been such a great author
